SUMMER IN JASNA – IN THE HEART OF DEMÄNOVSKA VALLEY

The summer months awaken the Demänovská Valley to a completely different life than the snowy winter one. Jasná, known primarily as a top ski resort, is a favorite for hikers, cyclists and nature lovers. Summer in Jasná is about movement, the silence of the forest, the breath of the mountains and the purity of the air, which tastes like freedom.

1. Hiking and mountaineering

Biela Púť nature trail – Björnson Cottage

A short but engaging nature trail leads from the Biela Púť location, specifically from the final station of the B3 cable car (Biela Púť – Jasná), to the Björnson Resort. The 0.7 km long route is an ideal choice for families with children, school trips or visitors looking for an easy walk combined with exploring nature and the local environment. The entire route takes approximately 30 minutes and leads through a pleasant mountain environment. During the walk, visitors can stop at information boards that introduce the attractions of the Demänovská Valley. The goal is not only to relax and exercise in the fresh air, but also to enrich themselves with knowledge of the natural wealth of the region. The destination of the route The Björnson Cottage is a popular place for relaxation, refreshments or accommodation, and offers a cozy atmosphere in the heart of the mountains.

2 Climb to Chopok

Did you know about the enchanted dragon’s bride, which lies directly below Chopok? Be sure to visit it during your trip to Jasná and maybe you will be lucky enough to see it waking up from a hundred-year sleep! Where can you find it? You can comfortably take the cable cars to the top of Chopok, or you can reach it on foot from various directions (Biela Put, Zahrádky. Srdiečko). To have the best view of the Dragon’s Bride, you have to walk down the slope (northern side), after about 50 meters turn right to the wooden barriers. There it is!

2. Family trips

Vrbické pleso – Crystal bar

You can go to Vrbické pleso or Zadné vody, from where you can walk over the Chalet to the Lutonského Nature Trail, you can continue to Priehyba or go down the White Pilgrimage back to Crystal bar, from where the path also leads to the Lookout Tower.

Demänovská Cave of Freedom and Demänovská Ice Cave

Two natural unique features in the valley, also suitable for children.

Liptovská Mara in summer is an ideal place for refreshment, active relaxation and a peaceful holiday by the water. The largest water reservoir in Slovakia offers a wide range of summer activities in a beautiful natural environment with a view of the Western Tatras, Low Tatras and Choč Hills.

3. Cycling

Cycle route:

Lipt. Mara Lipt. Trnovec- Lipt. Mikuláš Undemanding asphalt and gravel section of approximately 15-20 km along the Váh River and around the dam, possibility of stops for swimming.

Demänovská Valley – White Pilgrimage – Tři Studničky
A gentle climb along the forest asphalt road or forest paths, also suitable for e-bikes, can be combined with a visit to the caves or Vrbické pleso.

Bobrovecká Valley – Jalovecka Valley
(Western Tatras) – quiet location with minimal traffic, beautiful forests and streams Circuit around Liptovská Mara Moderately difficult route, approximately 40 km, passes through several villages, views of the water and hills.

4. Restaurants and bars

If you want to enjoy a coffee or dessert outside the terrace of your apartment, you should definitely visit the pleasant restaurants in Jasná, which are just a few minutes’ walk from your chalet.

Damian Hotel- This hotel is definitely worth a visit. Its restaurant and café boast a beautiful interior, dominated by a pond in the center of the lobby. In addition, the views from the café are truly enchanting, ideal for relaxing with a cup of coffee.

Restaurant Björnson – Another place that will surely welcome you is the Björnson restaurant. This restaurant with a cozy atmosphere offers great food and perfect service, making it a pleasant place to relax after a day of skiing or hiking.

Winter in Jasná is a magical time when the heart of the Low Tatras has transformed into the most popular ski resort in Slovakia. The snowy muscles of Chopok await you with more than 50 km of slopes and endless possibilities for winter adventures from skiing, snowboarding and ski mountaineering, to sledding, wellness…

1. SKIING

Jasná is the largest ski resort in Slovakia, offering more than 50 km of well-groomed slopes of varying difficulty – from blue for beginners, through red to black runs for experienced skiers. The unique location on two sides of Chopok – the northern (Demänovská dolina) and the southern (Srdiečko) – allows all-day skiing on the sunny side or in the shade, according to preferences. The resort is equipped with modern cable cars and lifts, and also offers night skiing, a snow park and freeride zones for adrenaline lovers. For fans of mountain hikes in winter, Jasná also offers marked ski mountaineering trails that lead along the edges of the resort towards Ďumbier, Chopok or Dereše. Ski mountaineers and snowshoe hikers will find excellent conditions for movement outside the groomed slopes and beautiful views.

2. WELLNESS

Tatralandia/Bešeňová
If you want to recharge your batteries and relax your body and mind after a day on the slopes, these thermal water parks, located just a short distance from Jasná, are the ideal choice. Enjoy the healing effects of geothermal water, relax in the whirlpools, regenerate in the sauna world and be pampered with a professional massage. Oases of peace with mountain views offer perfect relaxation and warmth that will warm you up even on the coldest winter day.

Natural hot tub in Liptovský Ján
In Liptovský Ján you will find a natural thermal bath, which is available all year round and free of charge. It is filled with mineral water with a temperature of around 20-23 °C, which has beneficial effects on the musculoskeletal system and skin. Swimming in the open air with a view of the mountains is an unforgettable experience, especially in winter, when the surrounding area is covered in snow.

4. SLEDGING AND SKI ALPINISM

Liptov also offers a number of winter hiking trails that are also suitable for children. Walks around Vrbické pleso or around Tri studničky are easy, beautiful and children can enjoy playing in the snow. And if you like sledding, you will find great sledding in Liptovský Ján and the surrounding area.
